This photo was taken right after I got my tattoo on April 22, 2011. pollums drew me the beautiful jam jar and Betty Rose at Red Rocket Tattoo.
This tattoo was inspired by Kate Beaton’s clever cartoon about Sherlock Holmes, Old Watson, and New Watson. I grew up watching the Granada adaptations with my dad and, later, the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce adaptations; when the BBC’s new contemporary adaptation, Sherlock, started airing, I watched each episode with my mom. I love my jam jar because it reminds me of my family, Sherlock Holmes, and - of course! - the irresistible allure of raspberry jam.

Spruce trees grow all over behind my cabin in Montana, where I was born and raised. I got this at Tattoo Yorks Forever in Great Falls, MT.
My second, and favorite, tattoo. It was my 18th birthday present to myself and i couldn’t be happier with it. The Nightmare Before Christmas has been my favorite movie for as long as i can remember and Tim Burton is one of my idols. Overall it took about 16 hours. 4 sessions at 4 hours each, and it hurt like hell. Done by Justin Foss at Sacred Gypsy Tattoo in Bakersfield, CA.
